Classic homey beef lasagne

The lasagne everyone grew up with — rich beef mince, creamy white sauce, layers of pasta and melted cheese. Simple, hearty, and made with love.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 500 g beef mince
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes (400 g)
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g flour
  • 750 ml milk
  • 200 g grated mozzarella
  • 100 9 grated cheddar
  • 250 g Serena lasagne sheets

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180 °C.
  • Heat oil in a pan, fry onion and garlic until soft. Add beef mince and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, chopped tomatoes and herbs. Simmer for 15 minutes, season well.

  • Make a white sauce: melt butter, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk until smooth and thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
    50 g butter, 50 g flour, 750 ml milk
  • In a baking dish, layer lasagne sheets, beef mince, white sauce and cheese. Repeat layers. Finish with white sauce and cheese on top.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
